Alex Bigham

Research Associate
Alex Bigham is a Research Associate at the Foreign Policy Centre specialising in British foreign policy and the Middle East (including Iran). Mr Bigham is a Senior Associate in APCO Worldwide's London Office and works with a range of clients on strategic communication, government relations, policy development and stakeholder outreach both in the UK and globally.
Before joining APCO in March 2008, Mr. Bigham was the Head of Communications & Projects at the Foreign Policy Centre (FPC), Britain's leading progressive think tank on international affairs. In that role he led on the FPC's relationship with the media and stakeholders. He also managed the FPC's research programmes on Iran, Iraq and Pakistan and has been involved in research on the EU, the Special Relationship, faith and foreign policy and Latin America.
In 2007 he managed The Iraq Commission, a cross-party inquiry in partnership with Channel 4 Television into the future of Britain's commitment to Iraq, which was the first ever UK think tank project to be televised. He is the author or editor of a number of publications including 'Understanding Iran', 'Voices from Iran' and 'Having Faith in Foreign Policy'. He has appeared as an expert contributor on foreign affairs in the broadcast media, including the BBC, Sky News, CNN, Bloomberg, CNBC, Al Jazeera and Voice of America and has contributed to publications such as The Guardian, The New Statesman and The Spectator.
Prior to this, Mr. Bigham worked on a number of political assignments, including working in the press office for The Labour Party in the run up to the 2005 general election, and researching for Labour MPs in Parliament. He answered media queries from national and international press for The Labour Party and worked on creative media stories and to deliver Labour's regional press operation. He also has experience working for US Senator Paul Sarbanes, Opinion Leader Research and for the Live8 concerts.
In addition, Mr. Bigham is Secretary of Stockwell Labour Party, and a member of the policy group on International Affairs for the organisation Progress.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London.
