Sejal Parmar is Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) and Global Civic Lead at the School of Law and Politics at Cardiff University. Her main field of research, policy engagement, and teaching is international human rights law, with a particular focus on the protection of civil and political rights, especially freedom of expression, including media freedom, in the digital age. Her career to date has encompassed a range of full-time appointments - within universities, intergovernmental organisations, government, and civil society organisations - as well as consultancies for technology companies, and she continues to be interested in multilateral and multi-stakeholder approaches to human rights challenges. Between 2022 and 2024, Parmar was the ESRC/AHRC Policy Fellow in Foreign Policy and Disinformation at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
